Isabel M.A.V. Rao was born in Beira, Mozambique and grew up in Uitenhage, South Africa.

She currently lives and works in Johannesburg, South Africa.  She has dual Portuguese-South African citizenship. 

Isabel graduated from the University of Port Elizabeth with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Languages and also has a Public Relations Diploma from Damelin College.  She speaks seven languages: English, Afrikaans, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi and Spanish at various levels of proficiency.

She was the first female to be appointed as CEO of a Theatrical Film Distribution division in South Africa – an industry in which she has worked for over three decades.  As CEO & Marketing Executive, she received industry recognition for her business achievements and successful box-office results.  Her position afforded her the opportunity to travel extensively to film markets and Studio conferences worldwide.  She currently continues to work as a Business Consultant and Mentor within the industry.

“Taj Mahal & Tea” is her first adventure into the world of writing.

Isabel is passionate about movies, reading and travel and a big fan of unlimited hugs and chai tea!
